Cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes
Hands up everyone who loves cupcakes!
I have both hands up...waving... I love cupcakes, making them, eating them and crafting with them.
Today I'm sharing a couple of card projects using the Maya Road cupcakes stamp set. Included this set is half a dozen baked delights in a tin with a few little extras thrown in. Yum!
On my LOVE card below, I have used the resist stamping technique. Instead of using ink I have used Maya Road's Maya Mists to highlight the stamped design.
Supplies:
- Maya Road cupcakes stamp set
- Maya Road Maya Mist (pink)
- Maya Road Pink Vintage Sequins edging
- cardstock
- clear ink
- clear embossing powder
- paper, scalloped edging and 'love' die cut tag
- scalloped circle punches
Instructions:
Step 1: Mount the stamp onto a clear acrylic block. I am using a clear ink pad for this technique.
Step 2: Load the stamp with the VersaMark ink.
Press inked stamp onto paper.
Step 3: Sprinkle stamped image with clear embossing powder and shake excess powder from the cardstock.
Step 4: You can see here where the embossing powder has stuck to the ink. Apply heat using your heat gun until the embossing powder has a glossy look.
The clear glossy embossed image is quite hard to photograph, but hopefully you can just see the effect in the image below:
Step 5: Punch the cupcake image from the cardstock sheet. Spritz the Maya Mist over the image.
You may need to spritz a few times to acheive the colour coverage you would like:
Step 6: Lightly blot the image to remove any excess mist, and to lift the mist colour from the embossed sections of the image.
Step 7: Prepare the card base, add embellishments and then mount the cupcake image with foam adhesive to finish the card.
Here's a close up of the stamped cupcake image:
My second card, CUPCAKE SAMPLER card (below), was inspired by my love of sewing/patchwork. I wanted to include a few of the cupcake images on one card.
Instruction:
Step 1: I have stamped the cupcake images onto white cardstock with black pigment ink, covered the images with clear embossing powder and set with my heat gun.
Step 2: Each image has been coloured with water colours (I use water colour pencils).
Step 3: Cut each image with a square scalloped punch and mounted them onto a card base.
Step 4: Sew lines of running stitch around the images with black embroidery thread.
Here are some close up images of the delicious cupcakes included in the Maya Road cupcakes stamps set.
I hope you have a great week, and find some time for a little baking creating.
Cheers
Fiona xx
