Hi! It's Julia and I'm thrilled to be sharing my creations here at Maya Road. I'm another one of the three new design team members. Maya Road has been inspiring me to create for years and it just keeps getting better.
Recently I've been exploring scrapbooking through mini albums. I love their size and they are absolutely perfect to make as gifts. This sweet baby album was a gift for my daughter. I'm pretty sure that I enjoyed the gift as much or even more than her as I had so much joy remembering those precious days and creating it.
The album I started off with is the Maya Road 4" Canvas Binder. The canvas is perfect for misting, stamping and painting or even stitching. Inside, there are three canvas pages and three chipboard pages giving you limitless possibilities.
The front cover is perfect for decorating with lots of great Maya Road goodies. I've grouped them all together in a sweet Vintage Metal Heart Tart Tin.
Of course, I couldn't resist adding lots of Maya Road accents inside the album as well. Fat albums with hints of what is inside just makes me want to open them and take a look.
One of my favorite things to do in this album was to add color with paint and mists and then stamp on the canvas. Test your inks on scrap canvas. A permanent ink will hold up best on your creation. Maya Road carries an incredible selection of clear stamps that are perfect for journaling and embellishing your projects with.
This canvas page was one that I really enjoyed creating. It's actually a see-through peek a the next page by die cutting the canvas page. After die-cutting it, I carefully picked out the stitching at the top of the page and inserted a White Ledger Transparency to give it stability. I stitched up the top seam and then stitched around the butterflies to secure the canvas openings.
I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my canvas album and inspires you to try some fun techniques. One of the things I love most about these albums is they are a great place to explore your creativity.
Happy creating!
