While the egg-hunting part isn't that all too common here in Norway (it's my impression it's not that big a tradition as in the English speaking countries, at least), huge eggs filled with candies and chocolates has always been a part of the Easter-tradition for the children (honestly I don't understand why grown ups aren't included. I want Easter Eggs too!!).
This one's fairy easy to create.
- Purchase a paper egg (the cheap kind in the dollar bin) - or grab last years' egg
- Tear small pieces of thin patterned paper (I used a vintage book)
- Apply the pieces to the surface of the egg with decoupage adhesive or multi medium
- Make sure to apply decoupage/multi medium to the surface too, to seal the paper in
- Optional: whitewash the surface with thinned out white paint. Remember to reapply sealer.
- Start decorating! Use a strong kind of adhesive - personally I used hot glue for the larger embellishments.
I love the chipboard-butterflies. So pretty, especially when backing it with tulle and applying the surface with glossy crackle medium!
Sure, you could decorate a whole egg (I am when giving away easter eggs), but I think using the two halves on the table sort of seem more inviting. Like, telling people it's ok to just take a bite =)
