Hello there Roadies, Emily with you today, celebrating the Fourth of July here in the States. I made a tiny little 4x4 canvas to display on my mantel today, to add a little patriotic feel to the house.
I started with a 4x4 canvas and glued some old book papers to the background. Then I whitewashed the whole thing with a layer of white acrylic paint. I painted the lower case Lisa Chipboard Alphabet in white and decided to mix it up and add a star instead of the usual dot over the letter J.
I used the Crystal Star Trinket Pin, but painted it yellow so it would stand out. I then misted the number 4 (from the Jonathon Mini Chipboard Numbers Set)with Dragon Fruit Pink Maya Mist. It may have the word pink in its name, but Dragon Fruit Pink is really a great cherry red, a perfect match for the Tomato Red Twine Cording that I wrapped around the outside of the canvas, don't you think? Glue it all down and you've got a sweet little holiday decoration. I love how simple and classic it ended up.
I decided my display needed a little something more, so I wrapped a whitewashed Vintage Wood Sewing Spool in the Tomato Red Twine Cording, stuffed a bit of a packing peanut in the center, and stuck a couple more painted Crystal Star Trinket Pins in the whole.
And there you have it, a very easy way to add a bit of celebration to your home. Can't you see this project adapting nicely to other holidays that use the star symbol like Hanukkah or Christmas?
Happy Fourth to all you Stateside Roadies!
