Hi everyone!!
This is Karen Grunberg. I am back this month to share a simple layout with you.
Like many others, I like to pick a word for my year. For 2012, my word is "Savor." About six months ago, I saw these bracelets with words on them and I wanted one but they didn't have savor. So I decided to get two words that I think embodied what I wanted the word "savor" to bring me. I got "laugh" and "breathe." I've worn these bracelets since then and I look at them often to reset my mindset throughout the day.
So I thought it would be worthwhile to do a layout that honored my bracelets and my goals for this year.
I wanted to keep the page simple and warm. So I kept my color choices to the warmer ones. I coupled the kraft with wood, darker browns, cream, yellow and orange.
The journaling on this page reads:
My word this year is savor. I can’t think of a better way to savor what I have then to remember these two things: laugh and breathe. They remind me to slow down and appreciate what I have and take pause to really look at it. Each time I forget, I take a look at the bracelets and remember my goal. To be aware of how lucky I am and to remember to practice gratitude And savor every bit of it.
And here are some closeup shots:
I used an envelope under and over the image to contain it more and sine the image is dark, I surrounded it with lighter colors and added a yellow paper below to make the image pop more.
I stitched through my wood branch. I didn't use any special needle or thread. Don't be scared to stitch through them. If you go slowly, you're all set.
And there we go. If you're like me and choose a word each year, have you created a layout to honor your word? If you have, link me up in the comments so I can see it!
