Hello! Thanks for stopping by today.
You know what Im talking about, right? Winter... Christmas... cold. I've been seeing the signs for awhile now. Sweaters on store racks, Christmas ornaments in Hobby Lobby, commercials on TV for cute boots, and Pinterest is loaded with Christmas and winter projects.
Whether you like winter or not, there are some really fun things about the season and one of my favorites is winter crafts. I don't know if it's all the glitter and sparkle that gets to me and goes perfect with the season, but I always find myself especially inspired when it comes to Christmas. I made my first project for this year in July for Maya Road and CHA so that's what I'm sharing with you today.
This snowball scene project has lots of wonderful Maya Road items that are so easy to work into a craft project. The base is 2 of the new Vintage Tiny Rulers that are adhered to the bottom of a Vintage Wood Spool. The wood is lightly stained and the spool is wrapped with Twine Cording, Double Stitched Velvet Ribbon and then topped off with a Wood Snowflake.
I used a 3" styrofoam ball for the snowball. Before painting it with white paint I smoosh it up with my fingers and add some indentations so that it's not perfectly round. Once the paint is dry I add some clear glitter and then use a light brown inkpad to distress it up a bit.
Next I decorated the top of the snowball top with a Vintage Wood Twig and Vinage Wood Bird. The bird was painted red then I added some clear crackle medium and sprinkled a bit of clear glitter onto the crackle while it was still wet. Once dry I always distress the outer edges of items in my projects with a brown inkpad.
I painted a large chipboard Snowflake and added rhinestones and glitter to add to the back side of the winter scene. The chipboard "Joy" was painted turquoise. I used hot glue to adhere all of the pieces to the top, but you can also buy a styrofoam adhesive if you don't like to work with a glue gun.
Once I added some more wood snowflakes I finished off the project with some Crystal Star and Pearl Leaf Trinket Pins. They always are the perfect final touch to any project.
This project would be great as a small unique gift or you could even make it into an ornament for the tree. Make sure to pick up these Maya Road products and more for unending inspiration for your upcoming winter and Christmas projects. You'll be glad you did!
