Hey Roadies! Julia here. I have a creative crush on canvas that's not going anywhere fast.
Canvas Mini Albums are so wonderful to create with. The marriage of fabric and paper is an exciting one and the techniques you can play around with are endless. This mini album focuses on a watercolor look that is so popular right now and was an experiment on how to achieve that watercolor look on canvas.
The 4" Canvas Binder is the perfect size for experimenting with. I love that it has 3 canvas pages and 3 chipboard pages.
Each page uses some canvas on it and on the chipboard pages I've used canvas tags to add in some beautiful color. To get the watercolor look each canvas piece is misted with water before adding the color in with India Ink markers. The water lets the ink bleed and spread just like a watercolor. By using India Ink, the color is then permanent once dry. The more water you use, the more the ink will spread and your color will be less saturated.
Freehand flowers are fun to play around with on the canvas. The Art Journaling Words Stamp set makes a perfect accent. Stamp in a permanent ink after the watercolor look has thoroughly dried.
You can also make background with the watercolor technique and then layer on lots of beautiful embellishments on top. Here I've used Alterable Wood Bingo Motifs, Turqouise Star Pins, Say Cheese Wood Mini Pieces and Vintage Paper Roses.
This watercolor look can also work well on embossed papers. On this page I've added Antique Butterflies, Antique Pearl Center Flowers, Ornate Tags Chipboard, Eureka Light Bulb Transparencies Black and Blossom Pink Gingham Fabric Tape.
