Hey Roadies! Mandy Kay Starner here to share another one of my linen minis with you today. I am a huge fan of the linen albums. They are soft and flexible, they absorb ink well, and the linen gives your project a really nice texture.
If you are a frequent flier here at the Maya Road DT blog, you might remember a tiny little linen album that I created back in December. I used a very similar process for dyeing this book as I did the little one but instead of dipping the book in the ink, I painted in on. I started at the bottom of the page pulling the watered down mist up each page creating an ombre or dip dyed effect.
I kept going over it until I was happy with how much of the pages were dyed. To create the little rings you see below, I sprayed half of a squirt directly into the cap from the mist and used it to "stamp" the rings onto the pages. When I was done, I let my book dry overnight.
When my book was completely dry, I planned out what I wanted to stamp onto each page. The stamped words that are in red, you might notice that they are just a tiny bit smaller than the ones stamped in black... that is because they were words I used from the Card Sentiments Word Stamps the others were words that I spelled out using my Just My Type Alphabet Stamps.
I inked up my wood pieces, keeping to my kraft/red/black color scheme, layered up all of my embellishments and glued them down with some Beacon's 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue. That stuff is great for holding paper and fabric together. It even works on the wood and metal embellishments too! And you don't have to worry about burning yourself with hot glue.
The longest part of this process was the waiting for the pages to dry but once that was done, this little book went together lighting fast. I can't wait to get started on the next one. I'm thinking layers of mist and masks and paste.... ooh the wheels are turning!
