Hi Roadies! Today I'm sharing a set of hoops I made for the Quilt Festival, in Houston a few days ago. I kept them very simple, but when grouped together I think they have quite a nice impact.
To warm up the color of the embroidery hoops I coated them with a brown glaze. Each hoop was then fitted with dark red, teal or green felt.
Next a smaller canvas circle was applied to the center of each hoop using fabric interfacing (fabric glue could be used instead, if you prefer). Some Twine Cording was then hand stitched in place around the edges of the canvas.
For the larger hoops, I cut out the image of a reindeer in cardstock with my silhouette then used the cutout as a template to cut out the reindeer in felt. The reindeer was then adhered to the canvas and handstitched around the edges. Wood Twigs (the antlers) were cut, then glazed to match the hoops. The antlers were glued in place, then some stitching was added to secure.
Two Satin Blooms, were stitched in place at the top of the hoop. Then Leaf and Ball Pins were used to hold some Organza Mum Trim in place on both sides of the flowers, creating a festive swag. Some Star Trinket Pins were also added on each end of the swag to finish it off.
