Hey Roadies! We're excited to be featuring another guest designer here at Maya Road. Yvonne Yam is a wonderful mixed media designer and her use of color and texture has us falling in love with her style!
Here's a little note from Yvonne...
Greetings from sunny Singapore! My name is Yvonne and I love to make stuff! *winks* My style is fun and quirky and always involve some form of mixed media and upcycling from my "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash. :)
Yvonne's first project is a beautiful altered canvas that features lot of Maya Road goodies. It's 6 inches by 6 inches in size and makes a wonderful home accent piece. She's added lots of wonderful texture to the background using layers of mixed media supplies. It's amazing how layers of all these products can add so much interest to a design.
To create the background Yvonne used stencils and fiber paste to create the wonderful base texture. She then added in layers of medical gauze and allowed it all to dry.
The next step is to coat the entire background withe gesso. Once that is dry you can add in your color. Yvonne added beautiful blues with Gelatos and then mixed the color by misting with water.
Yvonne added extra texture and shimmer by painting the chipboard pieces with a layer of glass bead gel and then metallic paints.
Yvonne added so much beautiful color and texture to each of the chipboard pieces she used. Maya Road chipboard can be used in so many different ways and styles. We also love the way she has used lace tape to create a roof to the bird house and a band of green lace tape for the grass. This project has us longing for spring!
Yvonne will be joining us again on Friday with two more beautiful creations. Why not stop by and join us as we share more of her work featuring Maya Road.
