Hi Roadies! It's Julia back on the blog today with a home dec project. It's a fun frame that I designed for Creativation 2017 and wanted to share with you. I love being able to take my paper crafting supplies and use them in other ways besides cards and scrapbook layouts. Not that there aren't fun, but more so that I like to try new ideas and get lots of use out of my favorite products.
To create this shabby style frame I started off with a frame that I picked up from a local home discount store and took out the glass. This gives me more room to work and also allows me to make the frame so much more dimensional. The inside is lined with some sweet patterned paper layers that are also distressed by sanding the edges.
The main design of this frame was inspired by a brand new Maya Road product, the Wood Vintage Mason Jar. It's so fun and I swiped the edges with white pigment ink to add some dimension to it. I've seen mason jars filled with real flowers on Pinterest and though how cute it would be to make my own little floral bouquet...crafty style.
The top of the wood mason jar is "filled" with lots of sweet Maya Road flowers and other goodies and layered over the Vintage Findings Paper Leaves. I love mixing up different colors and textures for lots of interest and a fun mixed media look. Paper crafting doesn't have to be limited to paper! Feel free to mix in some wood and felt and metal or anything else you can think of!
