Hi there Roadies! Jess here today to bring you this sweet springtime altered bird. I love small home decor projects like this to brighten up my house for each season. This little guy is great for spring, summer, and could even be brought out for Valentine's Day too.
The wooden bird base was from the craft store. I covered the surface in patterned paper and covered him in all sorts of Maya Road goodies! I love layering little bits for lovely texture and hidden treasures.
My favorite part of this bird is the wing. I inked some kraft doilies as a base and then cut, papered, and glittered the chipboard wings. I laid them one atop the other to build up a wider wing and then backed it with gathered scallop trim.
I tucked various flowers and fussy cut paper bits around the wing to form the body of the bird. I couldn't leave the tail out, though! I added a scrap of tulle trim to the end of the tail feathers and inserted two stick pins for a little bling.
I created an eye for the bird by layering a crocheted flower and crystal centered button and the finishing touch was the small branch and charm hanging from the bird's mouth... for a luxe nest, you know!
