so i talk a lot about my life outside of maya road. i thought it would be nice to talk a bit about maya road. one thing that has come up in the last couple of months is a question about how we select our design team.
to be honest, we have done it a couple of ways in the last couple of years we have been in business. in the last 2 years, we have done invitation only for our latest additions to our design team. before that, we had a DT call to scope out the talent out there. we haven't decided what we will do this year. it might be a hybrid of both invites and then an open call but we haven't made a final decision yet.
what i can tell you is that we look at a lot of online galleries and blog to see who has done amazing stuff with our products. it doesn't matter if you used to be on 10 design teams or none, if your work reflects and showcases our products, it will show. and if we have found people we find that consistently love our products, we will watch their work for a while and see what they are posting -and then from that decide if we want to invite them to try out for our design team.
but we also might go to a call to see if there is talent out there we missed; we did a DT call about 3 years ago. we haven't decided what our exact needs are yet this year. each year we do like to change things up a bit.
so the point is if you feel you have the talent to be on our team, make sure you are posting projects. and once in a while if you create something amazing, send us an email and link to where it is using the contact us form on our website (www.mayaroad.com). we can't look at projects someone is sending to us every day. and more than just talent, we also look for fit. each design team is different. some teams have a more formal approach, some are more laid back. that is one reason we have an interview process to see if the fit is right.
and that in a nutshell is how we look for new DT members. again, things might change due to our needs for the team.
more soon!

Very Cool!!!!
