Today marks one of the first Fridays I have had free to spend some time with my kiddos and not be traveling or preparing to travel.
I started off my morning by overseeing the final touches on our latest adventure - the Maya Road Inspiration Book. About a month ago, I decided to issue a challenge to our design team - create us a layout using only 6 Maya Road products, white cardstock and some basic supplies. A couple of team members took me up on the challenge and here is a peek at the layouts that were created:
An actually Inspiration Book is something we haven't done before but something I have wanted to do for a while. I know we reach out to our customers in many many ways - Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Design Team Blog and more. I wanted something that would duplicate the look and feel of what we are as a company - simple yet inspiring. With this little 6 page book I think we have found it. Will we do one again? Yes I think so. The feedback has been fabulous. When will we do it again? Now that I do not know. But I am thinking a couple of times a year we will have an inspiring little book like this to share with our customers.
And you can download your copy here if you would like to see it.
After that was done, my baby girl wanted to show me how big she was and she wanted to use the computer:
After a few hugs and kisses, I headed off to Noah's school to volunteer in the art room. I love helping when I can with tasks at school. Again, I am thankful my job allows me some time to do so. That isn't to mean that I don't feel guilty about it but you know what? I know I travel quite a bit on weekends for work so a couple of hours here and there with Noah's school volunteering makes me happy and it makes Noah happy too.
Today I got to sort a bunch of art from different students. It is very interesting to me because it seemed that all the kids even in the kindergarten - third grade level, all had a bit of talent for creating. They all seemed to enjoy it. I wonder when that passion for creating stops for the kids. Do you ever find it if you lose it along the way?
After some sorting I headed over to meet Noah for lunch. Actually it is more like brunch to me as it seems Noah's kindergarten class starts their lunch at 10:30 in the morning. By that time some mornings I haven't even had my cup of coffee or breakfast yet. Noah was very excited I was having lunch with him. I even gave him all the fish sticks from my lunch to eat.
After lunch, I headed home to do some work. It is pretty busy at Maya Road right now. We just (literally just) had a container arrive 2 days ago. There is lots of sorting, counting and reconciling to get everything packed and ready to ship. And along with all the reorders and items just being released from CHA-S; everything almost from our Early Winter Release is now here and will be ready to go in about 2 weeks. Lots and lots of cool things.
We are also releasing a new Baker's Dozen Retailer Kit that Jen Chesnick designed for us:
This kit is also shipping next week to our Retailers so we have been busy packing it. We will be releasing it soon to the public so you can create this fabulous 2012 Calendar for yourself or a friend! We are calling it a Baker's Dozen b/c you also get a bonus project in it! Everything needed to be coordinated today so that we can have it ready to ship next week!
I also went and got my hair cut today. Whacked 3" off as it was driving me crazy. Got my bangs shaped up. I am a no frills kind of gal - so got it trimmed up so it would be easier to shower, run around with the kiddos and run myself.
I am also working on some more tutorials, but here is one I filmed a couple of weeks ago showing you how to make this wreath:
Can you believe you can make this in under 20 minutes? Well you can trust me. Check out my video tutorial here.
And finally our family has anxiously been awaiting the arrival of my sister's baby girl. She finally decided to come into the world today. She is already a little doll. We cannot wait to meet her and snuggle her. My little girl saw her photo on my phone and kept giving her baby cousin kisses. I cannot wait til they all see each other soon. I am also very thankful that God has given my dad and mom the chance to be there and meet their newest grandbaby. My dad and mom have been at my sister's house this last week waiting anxiously for the new baby and she is finally here. My dad has been feeling pretty good and that is all we can hope for!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend. I will be busy with my family enjoying the wonderful weather, playing some soccer, heading out to church and doing some cookin'.
