People that know me know that I do insane things to relax. Things like a 10k, 150 bike ride or something I have added this year - Hot Yoga. And since this is the week of sneak peeks:
on our Company Blog. There is a lot of work involved in getting everything ready for our tradeshow. So I decided to do a mud run last Saturday as a way to just get of my duff and get outside rather than hunched over a computer all day.
This was what my socks and shoes looked like after the run:
I have done a couple before but this one was the most difficult. Running with a friend this simple 5k took us over an hour to finish with 20 obstacles involved. I swam, I dove, I climbed, I scaled, UI run and I trekked - all over obstacles like this:
And in the end there was just this to contend with:
Getting out there and competiting is how I learn to breathe. This is how I learn to relax and how I deal with even the stressful weeks of a job I love. It keeps my body challenged just as my work keeps my mind challenged. I don't usually smile for photos but the one photo you see above is my pure and geninue joy of finishing. True bliss and I cannot hide it.
