It's never too early to start preparing gifts for Holidays or Special Occasions, and I'm sure one of the more important Holidays for many of us must be Mother's Day. This day falls on 9th May for us to celebrate and honor our mothers, and I think that she will appreciate a personalised handmade gift much more than a printed card or expensive dinner.
My mom has passed away but I had the opportunity to prepare (and celebrate to a certain extent) for Mother's Day this year when a friend needed help to create a gift for her own mom. I jumped at the chance and I created this framed monogram for her.
I added lots of 'woman-ly' details to this monogram - a dressform from the Sew Cute Mini Chipboard set on a pair of wings from the Wings & Hearts Mini Chipboard set (both glittered of course) because our moms are angels on earth, lots of flowers (Velvet Puff Blossom, Gingham Point Blossom, Pinwheel Blossom, and Velvet Pleat Blossom) because which lady doesn't love flowers?, and lots of love-y details like the stamped Love Bingo card from the Bingo Card Stamp set, Heart Trinket Pins and also a heart-shaped doily as the foundation of the monogram. The doily was misted with Bubblegum Metallic Maya Mist!
The paper flower above was also misted with spritzes of Bubblegum Metallic Mist!
The MOM banner was created using pieces from the Mixed Scallop Triangle Banner Mini Chipboard set and glittered Deborah Mini Chipboard alphas. And because we think of someone who is soft and tender and who helps us spread our wings when it's time for us to fly when we think of our moms, I used a piece of felt branch from the Microfelt Birds set and a glittered birdy from the Birds w/ Cages Mini Chipboard set on the top corner of this frame.
So I hope you're now inspired to start on a personalised handmade gift for your mom soon! Remember, she deserves the best and nothing is better than a gift made by you with love. I'll be back later this week to share with you a matching card to this gift!
Till then!
Lia
