One of Maya Road's new 2011 Winter releases was the ATC Shadow box. I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them! I received two of them and decided I would make them into a "book" of sorts where I could place some photos and mementos from my recent trip to Hawaii!
I started out by painting both of the shadow boxes white. When they were dry I added some patterned paper to the covers and sides. Since I wanted to make this a book I went to my local hardware store and found the hardware I needed to join by two boxes together. For the hinges and the clasp I used small brads to hold them in place instead of the screws that came with the hardware.
Now comes the fun part.....filling your shadow box with items and photos! I used many Maya Road products in this project. Pins, chipboard shapes, glitter, metal tins, canvas, ribbon, and wooden bingo pieces to name a few. A couple of my favorites was taking a small circle tin and filling it with sand and shells from Poipu Beach, Kauaii. Alittle Maya Road glitter to glam up the front and it looks fabulous! I also used some of that same sand by putting a layer of Glossy Accents in the bottom of a Maya Road Mega Bottle Cap and covering it with the sand. After letting it set I added some sticker letters. I also used Maya Road's chipboard windows set to make the cover of some accordion albums that fit inside the shadow box.
This album was everything I wanted it to be. A photo album and a collection of things that would remind me of my dream vacation! I hope this will inspire you to create your very own shadow box book and fill it with all the wonderful goodies that Maya Road has to offer! Their products are perfect for incorporating into your project and making it your own!
LOVE this!
