Maya Road + Epiphany Crafts Blog Swap - Day 6

And, we're back for another day of Maya Road and Epiphany Crafts....such a fun combination!  

My projects today use Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Pennant Tool and Bubble Caps.  I love this tool...it's quick and easy and makes crafting so much fun.  

My first card uses this tool and assorted patterned paper along with Maya Road Decorative Scrolls Chipboard that has been painted, distressed, and coated with glitter.  The chipboard provides a perfect place to attach the pennants to make my own shabby banner.  Some Natural Wood Buttons were just the right touch to embellish the banner and finish it off after I painted them and distressed them with ink.

I attached a layer of Ballerina Pink Tu-Tu Tulle under the chipboard so that it would randomly peek up and out and create a softness...love Tu-Tu Tulle. The Ecru Crochet Trim is my go-to trim and is perfect for so many projects such as this one, attached across the bottom of the card.

I wanted to highlight part of my sentiment on this card so I used the Pennant Tool and cardstock alphabet stickers and love how it makes the letters glow and stand out from the rest.

I dressed up a White Polka Dot Kraft Note Envelope with Cream Ruffle Edge Trim, 1/4" Leaf Green Double Stitched Velvet Ribbon (love, love, love Maya Road velvet!), and a couple of Light Pink Small Organza Roses.  

I topped the card off with a Chipboard Doily Flower painted, distressed, and coated with glitter again, a distressed Natural Wood Button, and a stamped tag.

Maya Road + Epiphany Crafts Week Day 5

This week, we've shown you different ways to pair Maya Road fun products with Epiphany Crafts' tools. I was in charge of showcasing the Button tool, Round 20. I love buttons, and one of the best things to do with a button is to make sure something stays put, right? So I made a button the feature of this gift card holder and card.

Our Kraft Note Envelopes in white dot are so cheery and happy and one of the sizes is PERFECT for gift cards! So I wrapped one up and tied it with a length of our Twine Cording in Clementine Orange then attached the Epiphany Button with some floss. 

The button was so simple to create, I just put my paper in the tool, attached the button to the holder and punched. And voila! A custom made button that perfectly matched my project! Cool, huh?

Finishing off the card, I took the smallest of our Canvas Shipping tags, added some letter stickers and a stamp and attached it all to the front of a card blank I'd covered with patterned paper. 

Pretty simple, and the button adds such a nice touch, don't you think?

Maya Road + Epiphany Crafts Blog Swap - Day 4

Welcome back, Roadies!

Ania here, hoping that you aren't tired of seeing all the the wonderful inspiration from this blog swap between Maya Road and Epiphany Crafts!

Now, I don't know how you do kids birthdays. That is, birthdays of the kids schoolmates and stuff? Around my part of Norway, the parents at the school/class normally try to agree upon a maximum amount when it comes to the value of the kids presents. And as long as the kids are young, they love presents that's stuff. You know, playthings and stuff. But then - to me it seems like the change comes when the kids are around nine-ten. The kids start give each other money instead, or gift cards (or well, their parents).

Although I personally think it's more fun to give toys or similar, I'll also admit that money or gift cards aren't that bad an idea. Especially when my own kids tend to fail to notify us parents in advance that they got a birthday invitation, and three out of four times, only notifies us the same day, giving us mayhaps one or two hours advance before the party starts. Kids!

Wow. That was a long winded explaination! Sorry! Let's move on to todays project!

It's a box (duh).

And inside: Room for a short note (my kids usually don't write much - so the kraft journaling tags from Maya Road are the perfect little size for them :p) and room for money.

The box is an old card game box, one that's old and not used any more. But instead of throwing the box away when the game could not be used any more, I figured I'd alter it so it could become a stashed away birthday gift for the occasions of "uhm-say-you-have-had-the-invitation-in-your-bag-all-week-but-decide-to-let-us-know-one-hour-before-the-party-starts" examples :p It's much more fun to arrive with money inside a fun, decorated box instead of money in a plain evnelope, imho (although that has happened too :p). Nevertheless, I covered it w/gesso then wiped around the edges with smoke grey chalk ink.

The tag/moneyholder is quite easy to create - just cut a strip that's as wide as the box, but longer - then make folds&creases so it'll fit. I've used a circle punch to punch the folds then slit more room for the journaling tag and the money with a craft knife.

Cover the box with paper, and decorate the lid. I find the scallop frames chipboard set perfect for this purpose - the shapes are fun and the size is perfect for numbers (I used jonathan mini chipboard numbers here). The fun thing with the Epiphany Crafts epoxy tools is that you can create your very own epoxy shapes, giving "old" paper new uses and looks. Love this star one!

Plus, the scraps are fun to use too - it acts just like a regular paper punch!

  Epiphany Craft shape studio tool Pennant  is totally fun and cool to play with ! So easy to use.

Hardest part was working out what yummie Maya Road products to use, I decided to get organized and do a little planning for that magic month of December. Every year I have these big plans to have a hand made christmas, well 2012 is it!

Using the Epiphany Craft pennant  shape tool is  easy as 1.2.3.

  

 

1. place your paper into the punch, then open the top. 

2. For that added exta I  place letters onto the paper , then  your epoxy stickers.

3. close the lid and push down, and you have your very own embellishment.  

Now team your own embellishments up with Maya Road goodness and you have a magical creation.

Maya Road + Epiphany Crafts Blog Swap - Day 2

Hi Roadies! It's Julia here today with Day 2 of our Maya Road + Epiphay Crafts Blog Swap.

Are you inspired yet? I'm sure you must be with such a fun product combo! Make sure you stay tuned all week for more projects and ideas from Maya Road and Epiphany Crafts.

Today I have a pretty shabby style card and tag combo that features lots of Maya Road goodies and the Shape Studio Tool Oval 25 from Epiphany Crafts.

 

There was a lot of excitement in our house last week when my oldest son got engaged. We are so thrilled for him and his fiance. My family is growing...a much easier way this time for me. I wanted to create a special card to send to my daughter-in-law-to-be.

I loved working with the Epiphany Crafts Oval Shape Studio Tool. It punches beautiful small ovals and adds epoxy stickers on top of them for a custom embellishment. I found that this oval tool worked so well with the Maya Road line of products. They looked really sweet clustered with Maya Road's trims and embellishments and the ovals were perfectly in proportion to the Maya Road Chipboard Foundations Set. Don't they layer beautifully together?

 Here's a closeup detail. I love how the epoxy shines and adds a lovely contrast to the textured glitter and trims.

Tags are really fun and quick projects to create and while my supplies were out, I decided to make one. This tag will probably go on a future shower gift. For this project I created a fun punched background using the Oval Shape Studio Tool. You can use this tool as a simple punch if you don't wish to add the epoxy stickers. After the oval background was adhered, I stamped over it with some Maya Road clock stamps and the upcoming Vintage Wallpaper Stamp sheet.

Once again I found that some Maya Road products worked well with this tool. As an accent I adhered an epoxy topped oval to a Kraft Scalloped Oval Tag and it layered beautifully. One of the great things about the Epiphany Shape Tools is that the punch opening faces up so that you can easily line up exactly the portion of paper you wish to punch.

Maya Road + Epiphany Crafts Day 1

Hello Roadies! Welcome to the first day of posts highlighting our swap with Epiphany Crafts!  For my projects, I wanted to create a little something for the teachers on the first day of school.  I had purchased gourmet lollipops and needed some way to package them up in a cute way.  I decided on tags (easiest things to make!) and made a little envelope to tuck them into. 

I made sure to use plenty of Maya Road embellishments on my tags...

I stamped the greetings from Spool Sentiments on plain white paper, and was thrilled to find that the Scalloped Circle Tool from Epiphany Crafts fit perfectly over the sentiment!

I loved how easy it was to quickly stamp my sentiment, and then place it into the tool for punching, and during the punch out, the epoxy gets perfectly adhered to the top!

It really added a nice 3-dimensional effect to my sentiment, and really made it stand out!

I also really liked how you could add gems to the top, and since it is epoxy, it adheres so well to it and makes it look as if your gem is "floating."  Very cool!! 

And since school started for the kiddos last week, all the teachers have already been presented with them and they just LOVED them!  It was easy peasy to match up Maya Road with Epiphany Crafts, and I hope you got some inspiration here!

I really love watching all the joy you get from a hat

Hi everyone!!

This is Karen Grunberg. I have a confession to make: I am super scared of sprays. Each time I try to use them, more spray ends up on my hands than on the page. So, a while back, I decided to just give up. 

But then I saw Ronda's amazing pages and I wanted to give it one more try. Here's what I ended up with:

 

I know for most people this isn't a lot of spraying but for me it was a huge leap. And while there's a lot I don't like about it, I love love love the pops of color and texture it adds to the page. 

Here are a a few closeups:

I like using layers of differently textured fabrics, too. I love how the ribbons, canvas, and kraft all add their own personality to the page.

and a little clustering on the edge, of course. It's what I do:

Your class went to the fire station and you were too scared to go in the truck but you did get a little hat and it has become your very favorite thing. So much so that it's duct taped all over now because you will not take it off and it's falling apart. I love how such a simple toy can bring so much joy. A lesson we can all learn. Thank you, my son for making my life so much better.

More than just a mini album...

Hello!  I love, love the versatility of the Maya Road mini albums.  There are so many uses for them besides as a place  to showcase your favorite photos and memories (although they are pretty great for that too!)


I used the Chipboard Flag Banner Album to create a little "houses" banner.  I layered the scalloped edged pages behind the other pages for each house in the trio.  They are connected with some of the Blackberry Twine Cording and  Vintage Chunky Wood Spools  keep the houses from sliding around.

There are several fun Maya Road embellishments layered onto each house including one of my favorites from the new Chipboard collection... the "Doorways" Chipboard.


You can also see on the previous image those sweet new Tiny Wood Rulers.  I used a paint wash on each of them then glittered them up for some fun sparkle.  One of the new alterable Wood Bingo Motifs was used too and rests up on the roof peak.

I have to point out the new "Vintage Wallpaper" clear acrylic stamp set that I used.  Love it!!  I used an embossing pad and white embossing powder on this project.  I also added some clear glitter to the stamped design to highlight the pattern.




There's more new alterable wood pieces here too.... like the Wood Twigs & Wood Feathered Friends and a star Bingo Motif.


So if you're looking to do a project that you can turn out faster than a mini album, all  that you need is a Maya Road Chipboard Mini album or Coaster Book, then get creative.  The possibilities are  endless and you'll have a great time too.

We Love Life Altered Wooden Tags

Hello, Roadies! Dina here to share a little altered wooden tag project. I used the Maya Road wooden shipping tags.

I applied a bit of modeling paste through a stencil on each tag. When it was dry, I inked over the entire tag with Maya Mist. I find that if I add a bit of water, I can make the mist go further and cover the surface well.

I added a couple of Kraft Shipping tags so I could have more pages in my little project. I used the Patti Chipboard Alpha for my title. I used Alterable Buttons and Kraft Mini Tickets to embellish.
