It took me a few years to convince her, but my now 18 year old daughter has finally been bitten by the Jane Austen bug in the last year. Being an English major, this makes my heart happy and I had to scrap about it. I tossed around a few ideas, but then Annie herself gave me the best angle of all when she said these exact words one day:
I had to laugh. I had to agree. And I had to scrap it.
I designed the layout to feel like a dress that might be worn by a Jane Austen heroine, high waisted, velvet ribbon, pearls, and flowers. Maya Road had just what I needed.
I used the Vintage Wallpaper stamp set to ground my photo, then added a couple of sweet little hummingbirds from the Ornate Feathered Friends stamp set. I love that this set has hummingbirds facing both left and right because sometimes you need both!
I created my own flower using the Antique Alterable Scallop Trim in Cream along with a length of Tu-Tu Tulle in Seafoam Blue, added a couple of Fabric Leaves in Medium, then finished the cluster off with two Trinket Pins in Vintage Pearl.
I made my high waistline by stacking some Burlap Trim in Cream, a butter yellow velvet ribbon, and some of the new Turquoise Double Stitched Velvet Trim in Ocean.
Finally, for my journaling and title cluster, I misted some Patti Mini Chipboard alphabets with Dragon Fruit Pink Maya Mist and added a layer of glossy accents to create some dimension. I made my title stand out by framing it with frame from the Scallop Frames Chipboard set misted with some Avocado Maya Mist.
It was fun trying to use products that would reflect the time period Jane Austen wrote about, to attempt a design that mimicked the high waisted dresses of the era. I love that Maya Road has such a variety of products, from modern day to vintage.
Love this LO ! I too have a daughter that loves Jane Austen. She's 17 and does a great british accent.

As a fellow Austen fan, I'm smitten by this layout! Her quote couldn't be more perfect. :)
