Hello, Roadies!
For those of you who don't know me well, I work part time as an assistant in my local elementary school, in the cafeteria and in the classroom. The younger students(mainly Kindergarten), during their morning routine, spend some time discussing the weather. Usually, a student is chosen to look outside and report to the class what they see... if its sunny, or rainy, cloudy or snowy... and the teacher would mark it on the calendar.
When I was planning out my CHA projects, I noticed that Maya Road offers quite a few different weather themed mini sets and coaster books and I thought that a weather mobile for the classroom would be fun to create. So I gathered all of my weather related items and went to work!
The little box at the top of the mobile was made using the Mixed Half Circle Chipboard Banner Album and a scrap piece of chipboard(like the kind that comes in a big pack of paper), cut into a long strip and bent and glued to the front and back pieces to hold it together.
This, gave it some stability and more space to hang the pieces from. Each part of the mobile represents a type of weather and was created using different coaster albums. I used the Mixed Half Circle Banner Album for the sun, the Wellies Boots for rain, the Scalloped Heart Album for clouds, and the Snowflake Coaster for snow.
I topped off each part of the mobile with bits and pieces from various mini chipboard sets, some fabric tape, and trims(that I will list below). You might have noticed that each part has a Chunky Wood spool glued to it. The spools are for haning the little "today" sign from. That way it can be moved around from day to day, depending on the weather. And the whole thing hangs from a bit of the Vintage Tape Measure Trim.
I hope my project inspires the teachers and home schoolers out there to make something fun for their classroom. Thanks for stopping by!
