Hi Roadies!
Welcome to Day One of the Maya Road & Stampendous Blog Swap. I'm excited to kick things off with a couple of projects featuring Maya Road product and the Frantage Mica Kit from Stampendous.
If you're not familiar with mica flakes, they are sheet silicate minerals and have a beautiful metallic or pearlescent sheen to them. You can use them like glitter with a wet adhesive.
My first project is a card that's set in a shabby style. Mica flakes lend themselve well to a vintage look. By covering my chipboard frame from the Ornate Tags Chipboard Set with some silver paint and then adhering it with pearl colored flakes, it really gives the frame a beautiful mother or pearl look.
The heart chipboard accent (from the Shot Through the Heart set) also uses the mica flakes. This time they are adhered over a patterned paper layer and use both the gold and pearl flakes. You'll also find Vintage Paper Roses, Teardrop Pearl Centers, Vintage Pale Pink Pearl Ball Pins, Clear Vintage Raspberry Beads, a Metal Vintage Love Hanger and Alterable Wood Bingo Motifs.
The second project uses many of the same products all put together to make a beautiful shabby magnet. It will definitely make anything you put on a magnet board or refrigerator stand out.
To create the magnet I filled the inside of a Super Mega Bottle Cap with a generous amount of strong liquid adhesive. The cap is then filled with all manner of pretty embellishments that are listed above. As well you'll find vintage buttons, Vintage Sequin Flowers, and Antique Butterflies. Mica flakes fill in the spaces in between the objects beautifully adding more interest and shine to the project.
Adhere strong magnets to the back of the bottlecap to finish off the project.
Thanks for joining us today for our blog swap! Don't forget that you still have a chance to win our giveaway! Make sure to go read the details on this post.

Lovely collage of bling on the card. The soft colors and stitching are so pretty. Beautiful magnet! It would make a great little gift too!

Oh my goodness! I love your style and the beautiful projects you created!
The frame is so pretty and I love the layers and piles of pretty embellies.
The magnet is so fun and dressy. Looks better than any of those nasty plastic ones stuck all over my fridge. I think I need to make a few of these to create a little more softness and beauty in my kithen
Thank you for sharing and inspiring! :)

Oh, my.....breath-takingly beautiful!!! Both of your projects are so enchanting. Can't decide which I love more, but maybe the refrig magnet. It's such a great idea using the vintage embellies that way. Such a lovely result!!
