hi Roadies, welcome to the Stampendous Blog Hop week with Maya Road. So I have to admit that I am not big into embossing or glittering. I am probably not very good at it so it is not a technique I try very often. So when I got this:
I had to think for a while what I would do. At first I tried the mica flakes with one of the Maya Road wood pieces. I ended up having to scrap the projects and start over since it just looked like I was making a mess on the wood piece. So it was back to square one. With this Encrust Jewel Teal Embossing Kit what should I do?
I decided to try something with the Sky Blue Embossing Tinsel. I decided not to emboss with it. What I did was cover a wooden Maya Road Hummingbird with Diamond Glaze and I sprinkled the Embossing Tinsel in there. I liked how the colors looked. After it dried, I glazed it again to seal in the embossing tinsel and embossing powders:
I then mounted the bird on a Vintage Ribbon Spool that was wrapped with some of our new Blue Raspberry Twine. I then added both on pop dots to a Super Mega Bottlecap that had patterned paper and a Time Flies Clock Transparency on it and mounted everything onto a card:
Your bottle cap project is so pretty! I love the sparkly hummingbird and the colours.
I was surprised to see you had turned it into a card. I thought you were going to say you had hung it on a wall. It's definitely beautiful enough!
Thanks for sharing! :)

What a pretty project. We're glad you rose to the occasion and weren't just completely stumped... someday you and I will sit down for five minutes and you'll fall deeply in love with embossing...promise! Thanks for playing with us!

The bird looks so nice. there are thin places in the tinsel and it gives him more dimension than if you had covered him solidly. Great project.

This is really cool! I've never thought about using the embossing tinsel without heating it up but that's certainly inspired me to give it a try! I've really enjoyed playing along with your team and products this week! Thanks for a fun time!

How pretty! Love how your bird turned out. The colors and concept are wonderful. Also, glad to know that sometimes even accomplished designers have to scrap what they started doing....cuz it's just not working out. Thought that only happened to me!!
