I have created this cute heart plague from It's love Heart Chipboard Album, as I love having whatnots displayed around the house or at work.

I painted the base white,  then misted it up to create a great background.

then I embellished it up with a few of my favorite maya road embellishments.

Hello Roadies, Kimberly Crawford here! I am so excited and thrilled to be sharing my first blog post as a design team member for Maya Road! Making this mini album was so much fun! Maya Road has the best products for getting creative! This 4x5 Chipboard Binder album is a collection of some of my favorite quotes and Instagram photos. I thought it would be wonderful to have them in one beautiful location.

After I applied paper and a strip of Kraft Mini Tickets to the cover, I added a piece of Firehouse Red Vintage Measure Tape trim to act as a closure. To secure the closure, I cut a slit in the trim, adhered a Vintage Raspberry Bead Clear, and pushed the trim over the bead.

When I looked at the Ornate Tags Chipboard Set, I saw a mini chalkboard. The inside was painted black and the outside was painted with a glitter pen. The Vintage Butterfly Transparencies in white made the perfect embellishment to add to the chalkboard look.

The large flower was cut from a piece of Afternoon Tea Trim Pack-Rose. I love that I can remove a part of trim and use it as its own embellishment!

Wanting to use only what was in front of me, I looked around my gorgeous pile of supplies to find something that would work like a sequin or enamel dot, and then I saw my Firehouse Red Vintage Measure Tape. Using a hole punch, I was able to get lovely red circles for my page!

A Kraft Envelope Slate Polka Dot was the perfect way to hold a couple of photos. (Just to mention, these Instagram photos were printed in 2x2 format.)

I just love this cute little Soaring Bird Resin Embellishment in Slate! And look at the way that Maya Road Love Chipboard Banner takes color from my favorite new glitter pen! Its gorgeous!

For the inside covers of the album, I stamped Retro 80's UC Clear stamp set in black ink, directly onto the chipboard. Then I put a white paint wash over the top to tone the intense color down. I was pretty happy with how the alphabet fit perfectly!

Vintage Wood Feathered Friends with more of that glitter pen. Along with a flower cut away from Mini Mums Vintage Lace trim in Cloud.

How cool is this Vintage Just My Type Transparency piece? Its pretty clever how the top has a piece of paper sticking out-which gave me a fabulous place to put the rest of my quote!

Love Chipboard Banner pieces covered with paper and some painted. To "hang" the banner pieces, I adhered strips of Cotton Candy Twine Cording.

Felt Pearl Posies in pink. Such a happy flower. The layers of felt are wonderful!

Paper Twine Cording in Grass. Oh how I adore thee! I had waaaay too much fun playing with this product! Its paper that is rolled into a cord, but, you can unroll it. I used it two ways on this page. First, I kept the bottom rolled and unraveled the very top. After cutting the top with trim and spreading it out, I had a perfect flower stem. Then, I unrolled the pieces completely, and trimmed them to look like grass!

And finally the last page...

...with butterflies. Who doesn't love butterlies? I could put Vintage Butterfly Transparencies on everything!

All you need is small clusters

Hello, roadies!

Ania here with two cards for you today:

Look at that pink resin bird! It's so darn cute!

This charm goes by the the clever name "I mustache you a question", and have holes large enough to thread the twine cording through. Me approve!

With the transpraency as cover, you don't really need much pattern on the card itself - hence the small, but effective cluster on the scallop frame chipboard. Notice the resin flower sitting upon the letter a - love such details like this :)

With an arsenal of MR embellishments you'll never run out of possibilities to create different clusters :)

Here's another card created by the same philosphy - with a patterned transparency as cover you don't need much for the card itself. Here, the two vintage wooden bunnies are placed upon the biggest mini love you heart with a star pin beneath.

 

 And look at this charm! Über-cool, isn't?? :D

this week

I know this is a bit of a departure from my usually very layered look in scrapbooking, but as I was looking through my collection of photos from the past week, I realized that I've been picking up my camera a bit more often again (which is a GOOD thing), and I wanted to include every single one of this on the layout. They all had recorded a special moment in the week, so I couldn't choose...

I think the doilies in all shapes and sizes will always be a favorite of mine! I love layering them with just about anything...

 

I'm also looking forward to using the calendar stamp A LOT this year...

It was fun just tagging a few bits of journaling on to each photo for a quick layout documenting our week...

Totally R-Awesome!!!!

Hello Roadies!  Jennifer here.  I don't know about you, but I love using Maya Road's Gift Card Envelopes.  Sometimes just as they are and other times, dressing them up a bit.  Here's one all dressed up and ready to give to someone special.

Here's how it was done.

1. Merge a lion cut out with a rectangle, which is the same size as the gift card envelope. ( Note: The lion image I used was a Silhouette file. But you could draw your own or use whatever image you would like.) Cut the image out of thin chipboard.  Then cover the lion section of the image with patterned paper.
2. Cut some kraft flowers and glue them to the outer edge of the lion's head.
3. Next, cut out the lion head and assemble, then hand-stitch the outer edges.  Glue more kraft flowers to the back side of the head.  Allow to dry.
4. Layer a chipboard circle, kraft star, sticker and chipboard letter together to create the layered star embellishment.
5. Next, decorate the gift card envelope with paper and stickers.  Then cut out a notch in the flap. This will allow the envelope to easily open and close, once you attach the star embellishment.
6. Glue the kraft envelope to the chipboard rectangle, then add some wood buttons and a couple of large kraft tickets.
7. Before gluing the head of the lion in place, loop and glue some twine onto the bottom layer of the mane.

If you wish you gift card holder to serve as a card as well, just add a folded piece of card to the back of the project, as shown.

Bon Voyage

Hi Roadies! It's Julia here today. Anyone besides myself ready for a vacation?

It's that time of year when we all start counting down to the end of the school year and some time to get away and relax. Inspired by my traveling daydreams, this card looks ahead to travels, adventures and moments to remember.

This design works great as a bon voyage card, a farewell or prehaps even wishing someone well as they start a new chapter in their life.

One of the things I love best about Maya Road is the ease of use. Their products span styles and techniques and always work well together and with a myriad of paper lines.

 

I've had a lot of fun combining transparencies, with kraft; paper twine with chipboard; felt with wood and metal. I find the chipboard to be a great base to work off of and for this card design the photo frame chipboard is covered with patterned paper for a custom look and the word bubble chipboard is quickly colored with alcohol markers for a bold bright look.

A Mini Album....of sorts.....

I had this vision of a mini album being part of a circle paper-mache box one night before I went to sleep. Here is that mini album. I love Maya Road A) because their products are so versatile, B) because they offer such a vast array of products, and C) I just love Maya Road! I covered the paper-mache box with Modge Podge and some printed tissue paper and trimmed with with some of Maya Road's fabric tape. The rest of the album is a collage of a lot of my favorite bits and pieces of Maya Roads products! Wood, transparencies, metal, kraft, mini album, twine, etc. Enjoy!

 

 

I simply cut a hole in the center of the lid of the box the width of a wooden dowel and placed the spine of my mini album over the dowel. Next I topped the dowel off with a twine covered Maya Road Wooden Spool.

Hey Roadies! Mandy Kay Starner, here to share my Pinterest Inspired Maya Road project.

I often browse Pinterest for inspiration for my next project and I came across this pin, I had pinned a while back and it sparked an idea for a layout.

I really loved the letters stacket together with the hidden message, so I got out my favorite Maya Road alphas -Lisa Lowercase a few Metal Vintage Trinket Love Heart Clips and started laying out my background.

Once I had it the way I wanted it, I inked up my hidden message and adhered all of my chipboard pieces down. I added a few Kraft DIY Heart Stickers, Vintage Butterfly Transparencies, some sequins, and a Linen Heart tucked in behind the photos. I stapled down my heart clips and the butterflies, then I adhered my Firehouse Red Vintage Tape Measure Trim and my Vintage Lace Tape-Fog on the bottom edge of my layout like so...

Maya Road metals for the making

Good day to all you Roadies! 

Some of my favorite new things at Maya Road are all the metals, both Vintage Metal Findings and wire clips. David (Caroline's awesome husband) is tasked with finding cool new metals, and the last few releases have been full of them. This layout about how I won't use the word "selfie" has quite a few of them on it, and I wanted to share how I make them unique with altering. 

Don't you love Maya Road for altering? :)

First, I love the wire clips (I'm pretty sure Caroline is the one that designs most of these, she'll share her sketches with us sometimes, it's a facinating process!). I also love that I can make them whatever color I want! 

How? If you press the clip (shown: Eureka Lightbulb Clip) into a Versamark pad, get it really good and sticky, then with a pair of tweezers and place it on a scratch paper, you can pour any color of embossing powder on it. Simply hold it in a inconspicuous place with the tweezers and use your heat gun to melt the powder. It's a quick process, the fact that it's metal helps that! I also embossed the camera in the upper left corner. Time to stock up on your embossing powders and metal clips, isn't it?!?!? :)

I followed the same process as above for the metal arrow, except I only pressed the tip of the arrow into the pad. If you use an embossing pen, you can do even more detailed work.

Another thing that is fun to do is add something to the viewfinder of the Vintage Oh Snap! camera. It's just big enough that you can glue a small bit in there. I like to use Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze so it really hold it in there nicely. I've added a small die cut heart before and this time I used one of the lovely Mini Antique Metal Roses in Lime Green. It takes a few hours for the glue to dry clear, so start that early in the process.

Or you can leave the metal just as it is. There were so many sweet little trinkets released this past January! This Vintage What a Hoot Owl charm was so cute, I just had to sneak it onto my layout somehow. 

You'll have to try altering the metals, you get some really fun and unique results. Painting and sanding them is next on my list!

Clustering those details

Hi Roodies, Piradee here to share another layout of little Sophia.  For this layout I used a mix of embellishments, from transparencies, to chipboards, resin bird, metal keys, fabric flowers, trinkets and some wooden die cuts and buttons. In order for me to mix and match everything, I created three little clusters where I then layered the different embellishments together; love mixing the different textures. 

Here's a close up of one of the clusters where I started first with the hexagon chipboard pieces followed by the white house transparency, wooden bird cage, resin bird, flower and leaves and a pearl and star pin/trinkets (I could keep going).  :)

 And another close up of one of the other cluster, here I focused on the wooden die cuts, these hearts are too cute (loving the texture on the larger one).

And for the third cluster, once again I used the wooden heart die cut and added the metal key charm and another house tranparency. 

 

There you go... a fun  mix of the various embellishments. Thanks for stopping by and hope you guys have a wonderful weekend.
