Hi Roadies! Jennifer here. Today I'm sharing a doll, I created using a mixture of materials. The project was inspired by the costumes in the HBO mini series Elizabeth. The doll definitely has a playful Halloween theme, but I think the "Elizabethan vibe" is still very visible.
- You can see how I used a page from the Keyhole Album to create the torso of the doll. For the skirt I used two pages from the Mixed Half Circle Chipboard Album.
- This is how the pieces looked once they were pieced together. I repeated the shape (for the back) onto some raw chipboard and cut it out. The two pieces were then sandwiched together, using spacers. (I used 2" wood blocks at the base and foam core for the rest, gradually getting thinner as I got to the neck and shoulder area.)
- Some fabric was used to make a head and also cover the neck and shoulder area of the chipboard. A wood dowel was placed into the neck of the doll, so the head could be attached.
- Each arm was made out of four Ribbon Spools and a Wood Twig. The spools were threaded together using some thin wire. To attatch the arms to the body, the remaining wire was wrapped around Pearl Ball Pins that had been glued in place on the shoulders.
Now that the doll has been put together, you can have some fun dressing her up with patterned papers and embellishments.
Before the head was attached to the body some wool roving (hair) was attached and facial features were drawn on with black colored pencil.
Here are some close ups of the finished piece.
The headdress was made out of some Vintage Pearl Pins, Ball Pearl Pins, a Teardrop Pearl Center, a large Leaf Charm and some Twine Cording. A little glue was applied to each to secure.
The eye patch was cut out of canvas, colored with black marker then embellished with a small glittered star.
The top of the dress was decorated with lace and trim. Then just below that a Decorative Scroll, some beads and a Mini Leaf Charm were used as embellishments. Some Twine Cording was also used to outline the bodice of the dress.
To add some more detail to the piece, a chipborad star was added along with a small sign.
Here's one more look at the finished piece.
