Hi Roadies! It's Jocelyn on the blog today with a spring home decor project.
I've seen some die-cut kite projects on Pinterest, and I wanted to make one as a home decor. I started by die-cutting kites on my Silhouette Cameo. If you don't have an electronic die-cutter, these were easy enough to trim with or without a pattern.
Next, I started layering altered elements on the kites:
For the four-panel kite, I painted the Vintage Wood Cloudy Days cloud and then sprinkled glitter over it. I heat embossed the Sunny Days Clip with yellow embossing powder. Isn't that sun so cute?
On my next kite, I layered several embellishments:
The Velvet Pleats worked so well with these Dear Lizzy papers. I clustered them with the heart outline from the Mini Chipboard Heart Confetti.
For both of the kites, I simply painted a dowel and glued it to the back. If you wanted, you could use a paper straw or cover the back with paper. I also adhered the awesome Cloud Paper Twine Cording to the back to look like the tail of a kite.
I had to decorate the kite tails, and there were loads of Maya Road products that worked. I tied bows using the Pink Lemonade Twine Cording. I love how this cording holds bows so well. For the Mini Triangle Canvas Banner, I dyed it using a yellow ink pad re-inker.
On the other tail, I heat embossed the metal Love Pennant Clip with pink embossing powder.
I used the same pink embossing powder to emboss the Pinwheel Charm. It took a couple of thick layers of embossing to cover all of the angles of the charm, but it worked! I adhered the charm and tied some Princess Jute Cording around the basket.
This is absolutely gorgeous, Jocelyn! Such bright and happy colours. I enjoyed looking at all of your close-ups to see the fine details of each design element! I bet your daughter has already stolen this for her room. Heehee!
