Hey Roadies! We're back for our second project with our November Guest Designer, Jeanne Jachna! If you missed Jeanne, her bio and first post on Wednesday, be sure to check it out here.
We are loving how Jeanne shows us how easy it is to alter our fab chipboard binders to make a great gift! What a great idea to create for someone for the upcoming holidays.
Thanks so much Jeanne for joining us again today! Take it away...
I’m so happy to be a guest designer for Maya Road today! I’m a huge fan of embellishments and Maya Road sets the standard with trendy, high quality products that are always a delight to behold.
I love the look of white on Kraft so while lots of the products I included on my project today are perfect for altering I left them “as is”. I made a beautiful binder for my daughter to load up with journaling, photos and ephemera (ticket stubs and souvenirs) of time spent with her fiancé.
I started by adhering some pretty papers on the inside cover of the chipboard binder. An easy trick to trim the excess paper from the chipboard edges is to take a sanding block and just sand them off. This leaves a nice clean and smooth edge.
Now for the fun part.. embellishing.
I started by wrapping Vintage Mums Trim around the cover of the binder. The two ends come together on the front. I hot glued them to the cover of the album. Don’t’ worry we’ll cover up those edges soon!
Next I wrapped some twine around my hand 4 times and adhered the ends to the lace. I want the lace to peek out from under a pretty floral arrangement. When I adhere the flowers they’ll keep the twine in place. Next I added a tassle to a Mini Safety Pin (you’ll notice later I added a second tassle to the pin on the finished binder).
I adhered a Tulle Mini Bloom with a hot glue gun and then added Paper Leaves and Posies adhering the wire stems (not the actual flower/leaves). Since the leaves and Posies are on wire stems they are easy to move and arrange when the glue is set.
A few more embellishments are always welcome in my book.. how about a Wood sentiment from Faith and Love adhered over a Follow Your Arrow Clip?
And a felt flower on a Royal Crown Clip fit for a princess!
The finishing touch is a sprinkle of sequins (Gems would look great too!)
I know my princess will love this and treasure it for years.
