Hi Roadies! It is Stacy on the blog today sharing a layout using my favourite resin products!

 

I had an impulse to dye my hair a different color. It was something on my bucket list, and I knew I had to jump on it one day!

 

 

Here I documented my journey of a loud teal blue hair colour. It was indeed a joy when I decided to be brave and give it a try.

 

 

I find it easy to decorate my layout with resins on my page. They come in many colors and patterns! First i selected the resins of my choice, then I started to assemble my layout.

 

 

The ornate resin frame comes in different colors and shapes, I do like to pair it with the resin flowers, or simply a wood token. 

 

 

New found favourites - cool grey resin diamonds! These are rather important in my crafting. They help to highlight interest yet simple so they do not take away too much attention. These beautiful resin diamonds are a must have! I used this to highlight my photos by placing them in row of 3s just below my photos, and it also helps to link to the journalling that I have right below them.

 

 

Another important element - turquoise sea resin mums! They too really deserve a mention! I must have used them across multiple of my projects; they can be used to highlight phrases, fill up empty spaces or used as a tiny flower resting in empty spaces between larger flowers.

 

 

Last but not least, I have used the geometric blossom diecut as a base and then layering the snow white nesting bird on top of it. Flowers, diecuts, wood all goes well with the resins. Oh yes here you can see another color of the resin mini mums!

Easy Pallet Wall Art

hi Roadies, it is Caroline here. Today, I want to share with you a simple piece of pallet art you can make for your home!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I love this piece as it is so easy to change out the heart by only gluing on the bulldog clips to the pallet. If you assemble and arrange everything else to be attached to the heart, you can change it out seasonally to match all your decor! With a couple easy embellishments you can totally turn this into something you hang year around in your home. Pick your favorite paper and then add some maya road goodness to complete the look. 

Our pallet was painted with plain acrylic paint. I then added the following:

1. Patterned paper (mine is from our friends at Photoplay)
2. Jewel Center Burlap Blossom
3. 8" Wood Pallet
4. Embossed Metal Flower Embellishment
5. Big Leaf Charms
6. Earl Grey Jute
7. Afternoon Tea Rose

With about an hour you can create this amazing pallet too! Enjoy!

 

Mixed Media Pallet

Hi Roadies! It's Julia here with a mixed media project I created for Creativitation 2017. I love all the Maya Road wood pallets but this new 8x8 inch size is really wonderful with lots of space to create on. The wood can be left natural, stained, covered with paper or as I have done, layered on lots of mixed media layers.

To create this pallet I first started by coating them entire front the wood with Gesso. After allowing it to dry I then laid a dot patterned stencil over the pallet and applied some white texture paste through the stencil for added texture and interest. At the top of the design I adhered a gesso painted paint brush that I had mistakenly allowed to dry out. Rather than throw it away, I love how repurposing it here on the pallet adds a creative dimension to the design and gives it new life.

The rest of the design is comprised of a wonderful mix of Maya Road flowers and embellishments and a few vintage buttons. They are all adhered with a hot glue gun and then brushed with a small amount of gesso to add to the shabby look.

Epic Fail

Hey Roadies, it's Katrina here from Paper, Scissors and Glue on the blog today.  And yes, you read that title right!!!  We had a photo shoot with the dogs and our photographer always includes the outtakes, because sometimes they are the best pictures!  So what better than to scrap them with Maya Road products!

I have been a lover of all the resin pieces that Maya has, and I cannot seem to get enough of them!  I used one of the Ornate Resin Frames in Sea as a starting point for my tag cluster.  It was great to use as an elegant starting point for a focal point.  The best adhesive to use for these is a liquid, strong hold adhesive.  

And the little dog die cut in the paper collection that I used was just calling for a bow to be put on it!  I used one of the Pretty Resin Bows in Turquoise Sea for his little bow tie!  Isn't he cute?  And it's a fun way to decorate your die cuts.

A lot of the time, I will let the layout decide what embellishments I end up using on it.  The saying on this word strip just went with the Resin Owl, so I thought he would look cute perched on top of it.

So pull out your resin pieces and use them on your projects!

Birthday Celebration!

Hi Roadies! It's Melody here on the blog today. I have a couple of projects to share with you showcasing the Celebrate Cupcake Die Bundle. This die set has all the pieces you need to create a card, including a sentiment, and there are a number of options to embellish the cupcake. 

The cupcake liner, frosting, cherry, and the sentiment are all die cut with Celebrate Cupcake Die Bundle. I love the stitched detail on the cupcake frosting. I added a little glitter with a glitter pen to highlight  the stitching. 

The checked panel is diecut with the frame in the Smile Frame ATC Die. I cut the leaves from felt with the leaf die included in the Flower Die Set. I added two Small Vintage Paper Flowers in White, three Resin Mini Mums in Sand, and a Wood Birthday Tokens.

Next I used the Celebrate Cupcake Die Bundle to create this birthday tag. On this cupcake I used the candle and flower dies included in the die set. I cut the flower from felt and added another Resin Mini Mums. 

I added a translucent gel drop to accent the frosting and here the sentiment is cut with Fanciful Be Happy Mine Steel Die.

I hope you all had a fun and blessed Mother's Day!

Today, I want to share with you a few ideas on how the beautiful Maya Road products can easily upgrade simple packaging into beautiful gift wrapping.  

 

 

This year, I chose to wrap my mom's  presents individually.   The papers used all come from a single 12x12 paper collection, and I chose the  B sides for the boxes, while creating the bag with the A side of one of the papers.

 

 

 

To create harmony on this collection, I used to wrap all the presents with Earl Grey Jute and Twine cording, and add accents of gold to all three wrappings. 

For the bag, after sealing it, I used my hole puncher to create a pair of holes where i could thread some of the twine.  After the first twine loop, a heart die cut- created from gold cardstock using the Geometric Heart Die - was added to the twine.  After another loop, a pair of Vintage Crafting Tassels (gold capped)  were added before tying the ends together in a bow.

 

 

 

The larger box was the one containing the sentiment.  I chose to add a large altered tag on this box;   I simply used the With Love Nature Die to cut the sentiment from gold cardstock, and glued it to the tag a bit off center.   Next I added a few of the Pearl Flower Trim - i just cut each flower individually - to the lower left corner of the tag, and glued a Pink Tulle Mini Bloom on top of the trim's flowers.  To complete the tag, I added a Pretty Resin Bow in white to the top of the tag, and a new an upcoming diamond resin piece around the flower.

 

 

 

To complete this trio of presents, I used some of the same elements on this box.  However, I added a Vintage Linen Burlap Rose, a  token from the Wood  Thoughtful Sentiment set,  a heart from the Ken Oliver Heart & Key  Charms,  and a gold butterfly die cut -created using the With Love Nature steel die - to make this box a little different, yet complimentary to the other in this group.

 

 

I love the final look of this set, the simple wrapping of the boxes is the perfect background for all the Maya Road embellishments.   I hope that you all check out all the beautiful products used, and take advantage of this month's Resin promotion over at the Maya Road website.

12x12 Layout | Lovely

Well hey Roadies!  This is Jill with a new layout featuring tons of resin goodies from the Maya Road store!

I knew I wanted to mix the resins with some of the gorgeous trims Maya Road has to offer, so I began this page by cutting strips of patterned papers and adhering different lengths to the background.  I then added in the Ken Oliver Vintage Trim - Mums, Alterable Crochet Trim - Scallops, and Vintage Rick Rack Crochet Trim - Natural Ecru.  

Next I placed the photo on tissue paper and adhered it over a small wreath cut on my Silhouette.  I added more trim below the photo, then tied some ribbon through a You Are My Sunshine Wood Button - Toffee and adhered it on my photo.

Then on to the fun part!  I used a ton of Maya Road resin embellishments, mixing them in with the trims and paper strips.  I started with the Pretty Resin Bows in Pink and White, added in the Mini Mums in Porcelain Pink and Snow White, and had to have a few birds as well!  I used a Snow White Nesting Bird and a Soaring Bird in Sand.  I framed the Soaring Bird with a Mini Wood Embroidery Hoop for additional detail.

I used lots of glue dots and liquid adhesive to keep my resin pieces and trims on the page, and they are very solidly attached.  Zero worries about them coming off my layout!

I am a Star

Hi Roadies! Belly's on the blog today. This month we are featuring resin products, this is one of my project which had been displayed in the Winter CHA show and I used a few of beautiful Maya Road resins on it, how lovely is the resin matched with the sprayed golden Maya Road Star Pallet.

While I got this star pallet on hand, I knew I wanted to make it like a flower standing on the pot, so I recycled an old flower pot and altered it with pattern tissue paper. I covered a piece of wooden stick with lace trim and glue it on the back of the pallet. Here on the star, I decorated it with, of course, my photo, framed with Maya Road Stackable Wood Frame Charm, together with two matched tokens.

Next to the "this makes me happy" token, I placed a Porcelain Pink Pretty Resin Bows which highlighted with gesso.

I seldom have such kind of cutie photos, so I used the "#lol" token on this pallet. The Resin Nesting Bird is just fit to placed here facing the photo. On this pallet, I adhered a few Resin Mini Mums and splashed on gesso to finished it.

On the pot, not only the star pallet, there is also a burlap banner standing there. Love sooooo much the rabbit, the lace matched with the burlap banner, I used a BBQ stick to let it stand.

Other than the feautred resins, I used my favorite Maya Road Geometric Leaf Die and the Rolled Flower Die on this project, hope you like it!

Decorated envelopes

 

Hello there Roadies! It's Yvonne here to share my decorated Maya Road kraft envelopes. I love using them to slip in little notes to go with sweet treats. I make a bunch of them in advance and keep them for occasions when I don't have the time to make a card or a tag.

For this one, I decorated the top flap with remnant lace and jazzed it up with pearl trim in white and satin scallop edge trim.

 

Here, I went with metal embellishments and pearl trim which I cut apart and used as "buttons".
