Hi everyone! Julia here with a sweet and shabby style card to share with you today. It's a fun mix of this and that which just goes to show how many different product types you can mix and match together!
This month at Maya Road the product focus is on chipboard and I've pulled out some cute little chipboard houses from my Maya Road stash and made them the central focus of the design. I love using chipboard in my designs as I love the heavy accent it brings to the design. The sturdiness of chipboard always lends itself so well to so many different technique!
As I love a vintage look, my go-to technique for chipboard is to paint it. I use either a gesso primer or a white or pastel acrylic paint and brush it over the chipboard. Usually it takes a couple coats to really get a solid look. THEN, once it's dry, I take some sandpaper and sand the edges to get a nice vintage look to it. On these sweet houses, I've painted them white and then sponged on some ink to get different pastel shades to each house.
A tip for working with chipboard...use a really strong liquid adhesive or a hot glue gun to adhere this heavy duty embellishment to your project!
Once my chipboard houses were complete, I've layered them together with some other embellishments from Maya Road such as paper flowers, a wood ticket and a pink card stock die-cut. With the little houses and fun homemaking paper I've paired them up with, this card makes a fun "thanks for the hospitality" card design.
Are you crazy for chipboard? Stay tuned throughout the month for lots of inspirational design featuring chipboard. It's also on sale for the month of June! 30% off with coupon code CHIPCHIP in the Maya Road online store here. I think that deserves a chip, chip, hooray! Don't you?
