At the Shore Mini Album

It had been a while since I created a mini album (one of my favorite things to work with) and what better way to show off TONS of great embellishments?

I used the Maya Road Love Shipping Tag Coaster Album for the base.



I used the oval cut on the front as a frame for the title area and surrounded it with flowers, trims, and more. And I can never call a mini album complete without some fun stuff on the binding ring!  I tied a lace bow and hung a coordinating tassel and metal leaf. 



Each page spread coordinates with the opposite side... one of my tricks to keeping an album cohesive. I chose white, teal, yellow and kraft not only because it's one of my favorite color combos but because it's great for a non-gendered project.  It looks great with the soft beach photos of my boy and girl. 



I made use of both a plethora of embellishments like the banner, buttons, and metal arrow you see here and the paper itself, which I carefully cut to layer on top of the photo and ruffled and stitched for the end of the page.



See that "love"? I was able to use the Maya Road metal dies to cut felt!  It's beautiful and adds such great texture to your projects.  You can see bits of die cut felt all throughout this album. 



I left one page without a photo because I couldn't resist fussy cutting the bird bracket and that yellow rose to pair with the resin frame, pleated velvet flower, bow, and lace trim leaves.  So pretty! You can see another felt die cut, the doily, on the opposite page.

Love Everything Beautiful - Vintage Beauty Kit

 

Hi Roadies! Belly is here on the blog today. These days, I'm in so much in love with playing with this Maya Road Vintage Beauty Kit, which is full of surprise in the kit, and I love all the goodies.

 

 

I'd altered the chipboard album with gesso and Distress Ink, just using a simple tool - nail brush, and you can get this gorgeous wood like background, may be you can't believe that this is a piece of chipboard at the first sight, such a cool and easy technique.

 

 

In the kit, you will get a pack of chipboard buttons, one each of the kraft tags, metal floral embellishments and different kinds of trims. In order to make the album more details and interesting, it would be very easy for you to cut some of them apart, like what I did on this page, half the button, half the tag, quarter the metal floral and only the leaves from the rose trim, just too cute!

 

 

It is so much fun for me to play with the kit, especially the chipboard alphas, I decorated them with Distress Ink, Perfect Pearl powder, stamps and embossing powder. This technique may need more time, but it worth, you can find the YouTube link on my printable PDF full instruction.

Christmas Luminaire

Hi Roadies! Stacy here on the blog with a Christmas project to light up the room for the festive season! Pairing a few of my favourite Maya Road products and viola, a brightly lit luminaire for the hallway!

Here's a look at the luminaire when the lights are off; it is a pretty ornament for the hallways even without the lights!

This time, I have used Maya Road Doorways Chipboard as the main highlight for the light. Using a light gold spray, I easily coloured these doorway chipboards, "Sweet" (from the love words chipboard set)  and the star (from the Geotag chipboard set) at the top of the luminaire. Gold is simply my favourite color of all seasons!  

I have also slid the lace trims and pom pom trims below the roof.

 

Here I added twine to the spool to add a spin of color. Adding the star pin and topping it up with the "sweet" chipboard completes the look.

Last but not least, to top it all, I added a banner and my favourite deer resin charm! The geotag chipboard was painted in brown and backed with the scallop wood stitched charm. Now I am ready for Christmas!

Christmas Card Box by Yasmin Tölche

Hello! It's Yasmin on the blog today and I'm well away into my Christmas cards this year. And Maya Road has amazing products for all your wintery and christmasy projects. 

I've used loads of Maya Road goodies on my project like chipboard snowflakes, pins, reindeer dies and transparency's.  They are absolutly fantastic. 

I started with a chipboard snowflake coaster album and embossed it with White embossing powder. I embossed other chipboard snowflakes with silver embossing powder. I've used a snowflake transparency as layers. Love layers! The dies are amazing, here I used the reindeer dies to create an interesting point on my card, and it looks amazing. I really do love my little reindeer dies. 

It's not easy to take good photograhs now because in Norway we don't have that much light during the day. You can see that the card base is a box witch you can put anything you like in. Giftcards, small pieces of jewllery, chocolates :) I like to make a belt where I embellish and it's easy for the recipient to just slide it back on again after opening it.

Holiday Cards

Hi Roadies! It's Jocelyn here. Are you getting ready for the holidays? Around the holidays, I'm always needing extra cards for special people and to give with gifts. I'm sharing a few cards I've made to hopefully inspire you for your holiday cards.

For all three cards, other than basic supplies (adhesive, paint, ink), I exclusively used the Maya Road Holiday Treasures kit. It's such a fabulous kit, and a great value, too!

For the first card, I altered the Mini Chipboard Snowflakes with paint and glitter and then layered them over punched circles. To add to the rustic look, I stitched through the layers.

 

I repeated the circular elements on the card with the beautiful satin flower, wood token, and flair. I love the sweet flair!

For my next card, I used a mostly monochromatic color palette:

I stamped the "joy" sentiment from the Holiday Treasures kit in white, and distressed the edges of the star with white ink to create a chalkboard look. The bottle brush tree is one of my favorites! I added glitter to the edges. I'm not afraid to add bulky embellishments to a card--I tend to give those in person. :)

 

 

For my last card, I wanted to emphasize the beautiful burlap flower:

 

 

 

I used the exclusive Holiday Treasures cutting files for the green leaf and sentiment. I cut the sentiment in white and inked it with gold ink. I balanced the gold with a gold-painted Mixed Scallop Mini Pennant Banner.

LO: Scrappy Pals

Hi Roadies! Stacy here today with a faux sewing layout - a quick and easy layout for those on the move! I used the jute and twine cording across the layout to show a grid. Just pierce holes at the far ends to hid the ends of the cords. Yes, it's that easy!

Let's take a closer look into the layout:

This layout was constructed based on the theme of water colors. Hence, I used water colors to paint the chipboard embellishments where i dictated 3 colors for 3 of us. I love how easy the chipboards allow us to manipulate the choice of colors chosen for the theme of the layout. My current favorites are the diecuts! They are so versatile and boy I love the font of these amazing die-cuts! Here, I've used friend, layered over the portraits chipboards and a camera to top it up.

Adding water color to wood embellishments are also possible! Here, I added 3 different colors to the wooden embellishment and scallop chipboard, then distressing it with red at the sides. The bingo motifs, felt rose and decorative scrolls have also it's own character with the water color! 

On the other end of the layout, I used the kraft sayings and manila tags as background pieces. Try adding your own colors to the manila tags, they help to enhance the layouts in the colors of specific choices! Also, you can add a thin line of border using a pen to outline, it helps to generate more interest! Using a left over heart from previous project (it came from the chipboard Geo tags), i used it to layer above the cherry red twine and topped it up with the felt roses. Add a little of the water color to the felt roses - it can alter the look of your flower greatly! Of course, I chose the die-cut "Art" as a subtitle for the theme of this layout.

Gold & Glam

Hi Roadies! Julia here with another Maya Road mini album project. Lately I've been having fun with one of the fabulous Maya Road Classic Kits. Always Together is the most recent release and it's full of gold and glam and absolutely gorgeous product.

Everything I used to create my mini album came from the kit. All I needed was to add in a little adhesive and basic tools to put it all together. Always Together has a myriad of exclusive products that you won't find anywhere else. Maya Road loves making their kits special like that.

I like making my mini albums full of lots of gorgeous product and layers. More is more, right?

How about a peek inside my mini? It's a gorgeous mix of prints and I love the journaling card sheet that's included. So perfect for lots of accents and journaling.

The back of a mini is another surface that you can embellish as well. Just keep it fairly flat so it will still lay down when you are looking through it.

Maya Road has tons of samples and instruction on how to create the sample projects. They are perfect for inspiration or you can easily follow them exactly if you like. Gift Box: Beautiful Love

Hi Roadies, this is Stacy here today with a gift box specially made for a special bride to be! It is such a great joy to construct this box with the scallop heart chipboard album, and the embellishments just flowed easily, layered one onto another.

Here's the heart shaped box I have created with the scallop heart chipboards and 2 pieces of pattern paper, everything from scratch.

I love the decorative scrolls. They are absolutely gorgeous layered behind the large flower! I applied some glossy accents and added 2 different types of glitter to the gold painted swirl. When dried, the 2 different glitters merged together and formed a swirl of colors on the scrolls.

Of course, the beautiful, beautiful die-cut which melts my heart! This die is so intricate, yet the results are so perfect! It is so easy to cut with this die, and layering it such a joy. I've also added glitter to the "Love" from the mini chipboard set to create a different texture between the titles.

Layering this cannot get any more fun than this! Isn't this deer an all time classic love? Check out the kraft framed sayings and wooden tag tucked behind the deer! These are my current favorites for layering, and I love how the muted colors help to bring out the main embellishments. Add some pins, spools and jute to complete the look!

Last but not least, here's a final look on the box, and don't forget to add a note for that special one with the kraft scroll frame journalling tags!

Mini Album: Everyday

Hi Roadies, Stacy here on the MR blog today with a bright and sunshine filled mini album to share. This time round, I decided to make a sunburst album filled with tags and pockets!

I really love the possibilities of Maya Road products. In this case, I altered the "Home Sweet Home Mixed Media Album" to the size and shape I needed for this project. Did I also mention that I hoarded 3 sets of this just because they are so versatile? :) The chimney and height of this album was removed and reduced to fit the size required.

As usual, I had to incorporate some form of binding in my project. Using Maya Road Jute & Twine Cording together with Twine Cording Solids - Cherry Red, I bounded the mini album with double coptic binding and I love how the two colors came about together! The cords really outlined each stitch of the binding and it gives a study spine to the album.

For the cover, I decided to give the title a little shine, just by using the gold glitter dust and some multi-medium glue. Easy job, and I get the color that I require for the project! The star was part of the speech bubble chipboard set, and I colored it with yellow coptic makers, then misting it with some light sparkle.

The part of this album that I love is when it opens out, like a sunburst effect and encasing 8 tags where I made them with pockets as well.

 

Last but not least, the manila shipping tags which I decorated with felt flowers, kraft flowers and Chipboard speech bubbles.

Happy Home

Hi Roadies! It's Jocelyn on the blog today, and and I'm sharing a home decor project. When I saw the House Shadow Box, I knew I wanted to create a personalized project that worked for all seasons.

I started by painting the house in aqua. Once the paint was dry, I dry-brushed white to give the house a more rustic look. Next, I cut new Crate Paper patterned papers for each square. On the roof, I dry-brushed the edges of the paper with white paint.

I clustered the Velvet Pleat, Felt Flower, Kraft Butterfly, and Wood Stitch Heart. On the butterfly, I added glitter to the edges and separated the Mini Silver Clothespin to use half as the butterfly's body. For the Heart Lock Charm, I gilded it in silver paint. To the edge of the roof, I added the awesome Mini Pom Pom trim--I love how it reminds me of icicles.

For the top-left square, I created a shaker element using the Hexagon Chipboard. To make this shaker:
1) (Optional) Paint all of the edges of the chipboard with white gloss paint.
2) Stack and adhere two of the hexagon rings on the base.
3) Add a mix of sequins.
4) Trim a piece of acetate to fit to the edge of the hexagon ring. Adhere the acetate to the stacked rings.
5) Adhere the final hexagon ring over the acetate.

The shaker reminds me a little of window. In the box, I also added a Mini Canvas Tag and the Rocking Horse Charm.

In the upper-right box, I printed a picture of our house from last fall. Under the photo, I twisted a piece of Shine Gold Cording. For the Tree Bottle Brush, I used a re-inker to dye the tree yellow. I think I need to dye these trees in a rainbow of colors!

In the bottom-left corner, I painted the Welcome Home Chipboard house and glittered over the top. For the roof, I trimmed a piece of patterned paper and added the Gold Heart Charm Tag. The Resin Deer is one of my favorite Maya Road products, and I knew I wanted to include one in the shadow box.

For the final square, I layered several elements and added a sticker from the same patterned paper collection. Under the Felt Rose, I added our monogram ("O") and a Granny's Wood Doily.

I made this project for our home, but they would be fun to make for holiday presents or as a new-home gift.
